The best way to sit and thumb through your iCloud Photo Library is with an iPad. If you want to edit those images, Photos on a Mac is advisable. But when those aren't around, here's how to view photos online.
Many people don't realize that they can access every photo and video they have stored in iCloud Photo Library from any desktop computer, so long as it has access to iCloud.com. It's a feature that Apple hasn't done a good job of sharing with people, which is a shame because it can be super useful.
To get started, all you need is a connection to iCloud.com, your Apple ID and password, and your two-factor authentication code. You *do* have two-factor authentication active, don't you?
How to View iCloud Photos Online
To get started, open Safari–or any other web browser if Safari isn't available– and head to iCloud.com and log in with your Apple ID email address and password. When you've authenticated, click the Photos icon.
Once the page loads, you will see something akin to Photos on a Mac, albeit a little less capable. If this is the first time you have used iCloud.com to view your Iibrary, it might take a little time while it pulls everything together.
You might not have the same editing tools you would expect on an iOS device or a Mac, but the interface will give you access to view any of the photos or videos that you have stored in iCloud Photo Library. Clicking a photo opens it fully.
If you'd like to upload a new photo or video, click the icon with a cloud and upwards facing arrow, as seen below.
To switch between Moments and Photos views, click the desired option at the top of the screen.
The option of viewing your photos and videos online is a great one if you're using a Windows PC, for example.
If you want a more seamless experience on Windows, with ready control over your photos and video, you can download and install Apple's iCloud Photos for Windows. A free download, this app gives you access to your iCloud Photo Library without using a web browser. They'll appear in a special "iCloud Photos" folder in File Explorer.

Using iCloud is a simple and effective way to make sure the photos you take with your iPhone are backed up somewhere. But accessing those photos from different devices can be a bit confusing. We'll go over how to find and view your iCloud photos on your iPhone, Mac, or PC.
How to access iCloud photos on iPhone
As long as you have iCloud Photo Library turned on on your phone, then the pictures you see in the Photos app are your iCloud photos. It's that simple. However, if you have Optimize Storage turned on, then the photos on your iPhone are just compressed, lower-resolution versions. The full versions are stored in iCloud. You can check if this setting is turned on by going to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos.
Regardless of your iCloud storage plan, there's a limit of some kind. And there's no sense wasting the space you're paying for on pics you don't want anymore. Use Gemini Photos to quickly scan your library and delete similar photos, blurry images, and other clutter.
Why can't I see my iCloud photos on iPhone?
One of the most common reasons your iCloud photos might not be showing up on your phone is because you don't have iCloud Photos on. To check:
- Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud.
- Tap Photos.
- If you need to, tap on the toggle to turn on iCloud Photos.
Another reason could be that iCloud Photos has been restricted to update over Wi-Fi only. To check or allow it to update using your cellular data:
- Go to Settings > Photos > Cellular Data.
- Turn on Cellular Data if it's off.
How to view iCloud photos on your Mac
It's easy to take pictures and view them on your iPhone, and when you want to see those pictures on your Mac, it's just as easy. There are actually two ways you can do it, with the Photos app or in your browser via iCloud.com
Access iCloud photos in the Photos app
As long as both your Mac and your iPhone are signed in to the same iCloud account, then similarly to the Photos app on your iPhone, you'll be able to view your iCloud pictures from the Photos app on your Mac.
- Open the Photos app.
- Tap the Photos tab.
Another way to access your iCloud photos on all your devices is My Photo Stream, but that feature also shows you the most recent photos. Check out our guide to using My Photo Stream on iPhone and Mac.
View iCloud photos in the browser (Safari, Firefox, or Chrome)
- In your browser of choice, go to iCloud.com.
- Sign in with your iCloud account.
- Tap Photos.
Why can't I see my iCloud photos on my Mac
If you're not able to see iCloud Photos when you're using the Photos app, here are a couple things to check.
- Make sure you're running the operating system Mac 10.10.3 or later, which is a system requirement to use the Photos app and sync it with iCloud Photos.
- Verify in System Preferences that iCloud Photos is turned on.
- Make sure your Mac is connected to the internet.
- Check which iCloud account you're signed into. You have to be logged into the same account on all of your devices for iCloud Photos to sync properly.
If you're having issues with pictures not appearing when you view them through the browser, make sure you have iCloud Photos turned on on your iPhone.
How to access iCloud photos on a PC
Similar to the Mac, you can view your iCloud Photos in two places on your PC. One way is through the Files Explorer and the other is using your browser.
View iCloud photos in File Explorer
To look through your iCloud Photos in File Explorer you'll first need to download iCloud for Windows. Once you've got it installed and have iCloud Photos turned on, then you can view your pictures when you:
- Open a File Explorer window.
- Under Favorites in the sidebar, there'll be an iCloud Photos folder. Open it.
- Click to open the Downloads folder.
- You can view your photos by year or move them to another folder on your PC.
If you don't see iCloud Photos listed under your Favorites, then you may need to re-install iCloud for Windows.
Access your photos in the browser
- In your browser of choice, go to iCloud.com.
- Sign in with your iCloud account.
- Tap Photos.
iCloud is a great tool not only for backing up your photos and videos, but also for keeping all your devices in sync. iCloud takes the hassle out of having to send photos back and forth between devices you own, and with these simple instructions, you'll be able to access your iCloud photos on your Mac, PC, or any other device.
How can I view my iCloud contents online? I have synced my pictures library on my PC to the iCloud Photo Stream. Is there a way to see all my iCloud content in a web interface, like it's allowed by all other cloud services (such as Skydrive, Google Drive, SugarSync, Dropbox)? It's surprising to find that iCloud doesn't provide this simple feature that every other cloud service does.

View iCloud photos online on iCloud.com
The question asked by an Apple user in 2012 has been answered by Apple's later products.

I often work on a Windows 7 PC and sometimes like to see my iPhone's iOS documents via my browser pointing to icloud.com. When I click on the Photos button, however, there doesn't seem to be any way to see my shared albums. The 'albums' that I can see are only the albums local to my iPhone in my Photo Library, not the shared albums in iCloud.
I know I can go into Windows Explorer and click on 'iCloud Photos' and then click on 'Shared', and it does show me my shared albums. But I'd like to use my browser to see them. Any thoughts on this?

I know this is an old thread.
But I wanted to get my vote in that this seems like it would be a simple feature and awesome addition to icloud.com. Make it seamless as to whether I am on my device or a browser – have 'Shared' as an option to see what has been shared with me _in icloud.com_
AND include the pics that others have shared in Albums that I started.
No brainer from a usability and customer experience perspective.
Jun 26, 2017 7:52 AM
I think it'd ridiculous that I have to SEND MYSELF a link in order to view a shared album via web browser instead of being to access it from my iCloud account. Absolutely insane that we have to do a dumb workaround like this to see shared albums via browser. Why on earth isn't there a "shared album" folder under the Albums folder tree.

Want to access iCloud Drive files from Windows? Do you use iCloud to store your documents and other files from your iPhone, iPad and Mac? If so, you'll be happy to know that you can easily access iCloud Drive data from a Windows PC as well as through the standard Apple ecosystem devices.
Although Apple prefers to keep their products with their own ecosystem, they acknowledge the sheer number of Windows PCs across the globe and do offer apps and services for Windows too. Accordingly, there's a dedicated iCloud desktop app that's available for Windows users who take advantage of this cloud service. Apart from that native software, iCloud is also accessible on any device that has a web browser. Therefore, regardless of what platform you're on, you should have no trouble accessing your files.
So, are you an Apple iCloud user who owns a Windows PC? Interested in learning how you can access your iCloud documents on the PC? Then read on, as we'll be discussing how you can access iCloud Drive Files from Windows PC.
How to Access iCloud Drive Files from Windows PC Using Desktop App
We'll be discussing not one, but two ways to access your iCloud Drive files on your Windows PC. This method is for people who don't mind installing additional software on to their computer for quick access to their files and better overall integration. You need to make sure you've downloaded and set up iCloud desktop app on your PC before you go ahead with the procedure.
- Once you've installed iCloud, type "iCloud" in the search bar located at the bottom of the screen and click on the app to open it.
You'll be asked to log in to your Apple account, if it's your first time using it. Once you're in the iCloud window, make sure the box for iCloud Drive is checked. If not, click on it and then hit "Apply" as shown below.
Now, you need to head over to "My Computer". Simply type "This PC" in the search bar and click on the Computer app as shown in the screenshot below.
Here, click on the "iCloud Drive" option under the Quick access menu located in the left pane. You'll now be able to access all the documents and files stored on Apple's cloud servers right from your Windows machine.
So that's the method that allows for native iCloud Drive file access right from Windows Explorer. It's convenient and works well.
But that's not the only way you can access iCloud Drive files and data from a PC, as you can also use the iCloud web app.
How to Access iCloud Drive Files from Windows PC Using iCloud.com
If you aren't interested in installing any additional software on your computer, you'll still be able to access your files from iCloud.com website. All you need is a web browser and you're good to go.
- Open any web browser that's installed on your PC and head over to iCloud.com. Type in your Apple ID details and click on the arrow to log into your iCloud account.
You'll now be taken to the iCloud dashboard. Simply click on the iCloud Drive icon as shown in the screenshot below.
As you can see here, all the documents and other files are easy available for you to access.
Whichever method you followed, you now know how to successfully access your iCloud Drive documents, data, and files right from your Windows PC.
Although this procedure is targeted towards Windows PC users, this method can also come in handy for Mac users who have installed Windows 10 in Boot Camp, but still want to retain their iCloud content.
Each of the methods we discussed here has its own benefits. The desktop app is suited for regular iCloud users who want the service to be integrated into their computer, in order to make file sharing a lot easier. However, the iCloud website should be good enough for most people who simply want to access their files, regardless of the device they're using.
Having trouble getting iCloud Drive to show up on the file explorer? Make sure you've properly set up iCloud on your Windows machine after installation. It's also necessary if you want to use other features like iCloud Photos, contacts sync, bookmarks sync, etc.
By the way if you also use iCloud Drive on a Mac, a handy tip for quicker access is to put iCloud Drive in the Mac Dock so you can jump to it from anywhere at anytime.
We hope you managed to access all your iCloud documents on your Windows computer without any issues. Which method did you use to view your files? How do you feel about iCloud's integration in Windows? Do let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments section down below.
Lose your iPhone? Want to access photos on the PC? Browse to iCloud.com for files and other items that have been backed up from your Apple devices.
As Apple's cloud storage service, iCloud lets you back up and synchronize your email, calendar, contacts, photos, and other items. The service works with an iPhone, an iPad, a Mac, and even Windows devices. But how do you actually view and manage the content stored on iCloud? You have a few options.
No matter what device you use, the iCloud web page will allow you to view and manage all the files synced with the service as well locate a missing iPhone or iPad.
Windows users can also get to their content through the free iCloud for Windows desktop application or the iCloud Windows 10 app. You can check your mail, calendar, photos, and other items to make sure they're in sync with your device.

iCloud Windows 10 App
There are two ways to access iCloud from an app in Windows 10. You can download the iCloud for Windows desktop application from Apple's website or the iCloud Windows 10 app from the Microsoft Store. The two applications look similar, but the Windows 10 app offers a few advantages.
Like Microsoft OneDrive, the iCloud Windows 10 app allows you to access your iCloud Drive files directly from File Explorer without taking up space on your PC. You can choose which files and folders you want to keep on your PC and access them from your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or from iCloud.com. iCloud files can also be directly shared from the File Explorer window.
